About Us

León Engineering and professional associates are consultants and analysts representing the customer in application-driven solutions to their problems sets relating to sensor systems, interplay with potential weapons systems, and overall design and function of systems. The business relationship, analysis, and guidance provided by León Engineering and professional associates is focused on the customer’s interest as their representative and trusted associate where we are not beholden to, or teamed with, outside contractors or suppliers. The customer goals for design, perfórmance, and cost control are first and foremost.
As part of the evaluation of customer needs, León Engineering can deliver high level strategic design and guidance, sensor/weapon system evaluation and recommendations for customer applications, weapon and sensor architecture options, technical detail and guidance for present and future systems that can be realized in simple or advanced imaging and engineering solutions, troubleshooting challenges in existing systems, or evaluating the customer’s needs where these can be addressed with sensor, imaging, and algorithmic solutions.

Customer Experience

You, your company, agency, or government become important to us as potential clients from the moment you contact us. A highly qualified engineer/scientist will be assigned to you for a free one hour discussion where you can explain your challenges and problems so we can understand your needs. You should expect our engineer to listen and ask questions to ensure our talent can be appropriately applied to your technical, logistical, architectural, or evaluative area of interest.
You and your team will have multiple avenues to contact León Engineering in order to provide you with a seamless and rapid response time to your inquiries. onsite support can be negotiated as part of our package to work with your team in-person or remote/on-call availability can also be arranged, depending on your needs.

Strategic Planning

Key to embarking on a purposeful and ultimately successful project is development of a cohesive and forward-looking strategic plan.  The expertise of León Engineering can be your team to establish guiding principles, goals, objectives, key performance indicators, targets to achieve, and specific actions, projects, trades, and initiatives to achieve the objectives.  A well-constructed framework is essential in architecting a system and building a strategic roadmap for future upgrades in capability and performance.

System Evaluation

Component Analysis & Reporting for customers that have established needs and system requirements, León Engineering has extensive experience and expertise in evaluating contractor bids for system components. Let us represent you to provide you with the expert in your corner to determine if and how your packaged bids and component specifications meet or exceed functional system and interface requirements as well as providing you with the best cost/benefits. León Engineering can provide you and your team with reporting resulting from component specification analysis, trade studies between different offerings, estimation of system suitability via requirements, identification of any component or package limitations, and other statistical and analytical processes that may be required specific to your system needs.

Why Us?

What do you need your engineering project, imaging, or sensor system to do?  We are experienced in:
  • Providing recommendations on architecture options
  • Finding and recommending suitable imaging components and vendors
  • Establishing a clear mission statement and sufficient system requirements of what the system needs to do
  • Designing and performing trade studies to determine how the system can perform its function
  • Designing and recommending optións of how the systems functions and under what constraints it must function
  • Ensuring through sound engineering practices that the completed system will provide you with the data, information, or function you need when you need it

Whether you are designing or building a sensor or imaging system, León Engineering knows what to look for to provide you with actionable information in meeting your company or agency needs.  From being part of your engineering team to being your trusted expert in reviewing multiple vendor offerings, León Engineering expertise is available to you.

Engineering Expertise

Dr. Lee Sanders and other León Engineering associates have decades of industry experience in tackling science and engineering problems and evaluating sensor and imaging systems to meet the needs of the customer. This expertise is based in sound physics and engineering principles that form a foundation on which solution options can be developed. Examples of typical proactive interchange begin with making sure the problem set or challenge is articulated clearly:

Imaging and Sensor System Modeling & DIRSIG Simulation

Modeling of imaging, sensor, and tracking systems can take a number of forms design or architecture can achieve the desired objectives.

  • Parameter-based models: Sensor system and target parameters are used to mathematically model the physical characteristics to determine if the proposed sensor/imaging system is sufficient to perform its mission against that target or family of target variations.
    • Example performance metric: signal-to-noise ratio of target
  • Physics-based CAD models and calculated radiometry: A higher fidelity model where sensor systems and targets are modeled in 3-D CAD environments and DIRSIG simulations with physical and phenomenology attributes and simulation software is setup and run to model energy and light propagation are how this energy is received in a modeled sensor system and processed. For sensor design testing, these simulated images allow the engineering team to quality assess imagery from a yet-to-be-built sensor.
