Imaging & Sensor Engineering & Business Expertise

Modeling of imaging, sensor, and tracking systems can take a number of forms to provide indications the design or architecture can achieve the desired objectives.
  • Parameter-based models: Sensor system and target parameters are used to mathematically model the physical characteristics to determine if the proposed sensor/imaging system is sufficient to perform its mission against that target or family of target variations.
    • Example performance metric: signal-to-noise ratio of target
  • Physics-based CAD models: A more high-fidelity model where sensor systems and targets are modeled in 3-D CAD environments with physical attributes and simulation software is setup and run to model energy and light propagation are how this energy is received in a modeled sensor system and processed. For senor design testing, these simulated images allow the engineering team to quality assess imagery from a yet-to-be-built sensor.
